Acord Quindío: 2025 Athlete of the Year

The best will emerge from the disciplines of athletics, weightlifting, skating, bowling and badminton.

The Quindío chapter of the Colombian Association of Sports Journalists, Acord, will proclaim and exalt the Quindian athletes who had the best performance in 2025.

The recognition ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 18, starting at 6:30 pm, in the main auditorium of the Chamber of Commerce of Armenia and Quindío.

At the traditional gala, which has been held for more than three decades, the gold, silver and bronze Acord trophies will be awarded.

The nominees are the skater Juan Diego Yepes Restrepowho went gold last year, and is close to achieving it for the second consecutive year.

As well as the bowler Fabio Augusto García Londoño, the athletes Camilo Redondo Magdaniel and Miguel Ángel Cifuentes Trujillo, the badminton player Nicolás Morales Rey, the weightlifter Julieth Jiménez Palechor and the pole vaulter Thomas Nieto Ocampo.

The evening will also recognize the Acord of the future, Paralympic, the best coach and the best collective performance. Special recognitions will also be given to figures from both sports and sports journalism.

“The evening will feature the presence of government authorities, coaches, civic leaders and prominent figures from the region, who will come together to celebrate the achievements of those who leave the name of Quindío high,” said Acord Quindío, led by its president Luis Carlos Rodríguez Peralta.

Regarding the selection process of the winners, it was carried out by Acord Quindío, evaluating criteria such as records, marks, results and processes of athletes and coaches during this year.
