The parents are worried about their and their son’s future, so they turned to the public for help, which they have never done before.
“My son suffered a brain hemorrhage at birth, which resulted in cerebral palsy. He also suffers from epilepsy, does not speak and, unfortunately, does not even walk. He can only partially see in one eye. He needs to be positioned, fed with a tube, changed, exercised, constant monitoring of his health is required,” explains Peter’s mother, Soňa Kučerová, adding that her son was born at 26 weeks pregnant.
He adds that Péťa spends most of his time in a special positioning bed or in a wheelchair. “Although he doesn’t speak, he understands us. He hears and perceives our every caress, family well-being and peace. We would not like to place him in an institution, we would like to continue caring for him at home with love,” wishes the mother.

“Péťa is a wonderful son. He perceives us by our voice, he laughs when he feels happy. He reacts to touches. Even though he has never spoken in 30 years, his emotions are strong and genuine. This gives us strength,” says his father Jiří Kučera.
A trained nurse helps Sonia and Jiří take care of their disabled son during the day. Peter’s health condition is so specific that finding a special social service that would professionally cover all his needs and medical procedures is basically non-existent. In the past, they also had the help of their own parents, but today, already in their senior years, they themselves need family care for their health problems.

The couple therefore decided to ask the public for help and published their story on the donation portal Donio, where people can donate to the assistance service for their son. Both are still working with the help of a day nurse to cover the basic needs associated with caring for Peter and the necessary running of the household. They devote all their free time to their son. From the donations, they would like to ensure that Péťa can continue to stay at home with them, where he likes it and feels safe.
“We would like to provide the necessary assistance that will relieve us and allow us to maintain the quality of non-stop care for our son. In the future, one of us could even reduce our working hours to have more time and energy to care for Péťa. We are getting older and our strength is waning,” the father points out. The family needs 22,750 crowns just for the monthly assistance for the son.
