Bangkok: Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Erick Thohir is proud and appreciates the regeneration of young athletes who excel at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

The names of young athletes are starting to emerge at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. Young swimming athletes like Jason Donovan managed to show off by winning two gold medals. At only 18 years old, Donovan has the potential to become a future athlete in Indonesia.

Apart from Jason Donovan, a regeneration of young athletes has also emerged in athletics. Women’s 100 meter hurdler Dina Aulia managed to show her potential by winning a gold medal at Supachalasai Stadium. Friday (12/12) evening.

Dina even won the gold medal with a time of 13.21 seconds, followed by Emilia Nova who secured the silver medal with a time of 13.27 seconds. Meanwhile, Vietnamese athlete Huynh Thi My Tien took bronze.

For Dina, this gold medal is her best achievement in the SEA Games arena. In her first appearance at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, Diana took home a bronze medal.

“Thank God, the results are as expected. This medal is for me, to appreciate myself. At the SEA Games yesterday I was in third place, losing to Vietnam. Now it’s Gentian, Indonesia is second, Vietnam is third. This is also the answer to my challenge two years ago,” said Dina after the competition.

This gold medal also paved the way for Dina to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This is a target and a big dream that the 22 year old athlete is currently pursuing.

“My big target in the 100 meter hurdles is to pass the 2028 LA Olympics limit, around 12.70-12.77. I’m pursuing that goal. I want to make my dream come true, playing at the LA Olympics, and if possible, I can get a medal,” said Dina.

Seeing the emergence of athlete regeneration, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir immediately welcomed it positively. He admitted that he was happy to see two Team Indonesia athletes on the same podium. According to him, this indicates that the regeneration process is going well.

“It’s great to see that there is a regeneration process that is going well, some are seniors, some are younger. This is what must continue to be done in national sports, without favoritism, without entrusted athletes. All the best, young and senior, must get the same opportunities,” said Erick.

“We can also see similar developments not only in athletics, but also in aquatics. Likewise in badminton, yesterday Jason Donovan, who was only 18 years old, was able to win a gold medal. I think the men’s team is also the same, the majority are young athletes. This is a real manifestation of the regeneration of Indonesian sports to maintain the continuity of achievements and produce better achievements in the future,” he concluded. (amr)
