The winners of the 2025 Jeonbuk Sports Awards have been confirmed.

The Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province Sports Association (Chairman Jeong Kang-seon) awards the Jeonbuk Sports Award every year to those who have contributed to the development and promotion of Jeonbuk sports.

This year, we plan to award awards in eight categories, including sports awards, professional sports, daily sports, and school sports.

The Jeonbukwon Sports Team swimming team and Jeonju Sacred Heart Girls’ High School badminton team were selected as the winners of the Sports Awards.

20 people, including the Jeonju University soccer team and the Jeonbuk Jeil High School handball team, were selected for the Professional Sports Award, 17 people, including employees of the Jeonju City Sports Council, were selected for the Life Sports Award, and 14 people, including the Wanju Middle School soccer team and Jeonju Pungnam Middle School wrestling team, were awarded the School Sports Award.

In the leadership category, 16 people, including Iksan City Hall fencing leader Yang Roe-seong, were selected as professional instructors, and 9 people, including the Imsil-gun Sports Association leader, were selected as lifestyle sports instructors.

In addition, research awards, commendations, and appreciation plaques are planned to be awarded.

The Jeonbuk One Sports Team swimming team, which was selected as the sports grand prize winner, led by Han Da-kyung, and Lee Yun-jeong, Kim Hye-jin, Park Na-ri, and Lee Song-eun won medals at the 106th National Sports Festival, raising the status of Jeonbuk swimming.

In particular, Han Da-kyung set a new Korean record in the 800m freestyle with a time of 8 minutes 37.88 seconds at the 106th National Sports Festival this year, beating the new Korean record she previously held by 1 second and 10 seconds.

He then set a new Korean record in the 400m, running 4 minutes 09.69 seconds, and won two gold medals in the competition.

In addition, the Jeonju Sacred Heart Girls’ High School badminton team participated as the Korean junior national team in the ‘2025 German Junior Open Badminton Championships’ last March under the guidance of coach So-young Jeong, a gold medalist at the 25th Barcelona Olympics, and won the doubles (Moon In-seo and Chun Hye-in).

Subsequently, at the ‘National Federation Badminton Championships’ held in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province in September, they lifted the championship cup in the team event, doubles (Lee Ga-hyeon, Cheon Hye-in), and singles (Lee Ga-hyeon), and at the 106th National Sports Festival in October, they won gold medals in the team event and individual doubles, proving that they are a great badminton team.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held at The May Hotel in Jeonju on the 15th with approximately 600 attendees, including winners and sports association officials.
