2025 Effort & Glory Awards: Finalist Athletes Revealed | INDES

The National Sports Institute (INDES) announced this Wednesday the 53 finalist athletes and teams for the Effort and Glory 2025 awards that will take place next Saturday at the José Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium in San Salvador and will reward the most outstanding athletes this year.

The INDES reported that in total there will be 16 categories that will be awarded, divided into individual and also collective awards for the different national teams.

The candidates and categories are as follows:

Female Athlete of the Year:

  • Stephanie Juárez- Karate do
  • Sofía Paiz- Archery
  • Ivonne Nóchez- Skating
  • Rosa Rubio- Sports dance
  • Iris Guerra-Bodybuilding

Mixed Team of the Year:

  • Archery (compound bow) – Paola Corado and Douglas Nolasco
  • Archery (compound bow) – Roberto “Bob” Hernández and Sofía Paiz
  • Sports dance (salsa) – Rosa Rubio and José Vargas

Men’s Team of the Year:

  • beach volleyball
  • Fencing (sword)
  • Archery (major compound)

    Women’s Team of the Year:

  • beach volleyball
  • Tennis
  • Archery (major compound)

Men’s team of the year:

  • Flag Football
  • Salvadoran under-17 team
  • beach soccer

Women’s team of the year:

  • Softball
  • Salvadoran senior women’s team
  • artistic swimming
  • Baloncesto (5×5)
  • Flag Football

Coach of the year:

  • Carlos Ruano- Taekwondo
  • Orlando Yepez- Skating
  • Jorge López- Parapowerlifting

Coach of the year:

  • María Alicia Martínez- Boccia
  • Linda Ochoa- Archery
  • Ninfa Chávez- Sports shooting

Male Child Athlete of the Year:

  • Santiago Guevara-Chess
  • Melvin Múñoz-Table tennis
  • Carlos Moreno-Equestrian

Female Child Athlete of the Year:

  • Raquel Colina- Equestrian
  • Andrea del Valle- Gymnastics
  • Fabiola Serrano- Karate do
  • Emilia Sosa-Ecuestres

Disabled Male Athlete of the Year:

  • Herbert Aceituno- Parapowerlifting
  • Josué Ángel- Paraswimming
  • Ítalo Liévano- Parapowerlifting

Disabled Female Athlete of the Year:

  • Rebeca Duarte- Boccia
  • Irene Villeda- Parapowerlifting
  • Cindy Landaverde-Parapowerlifting

Male JR Athlete of the Year:

  • Antonio Arguello- Fights
  • Eduardo Hernández- Bowling
  • Christopher Astorga – Taekwondo
  • Adrián Canales- Fights

Female JR Athlete of the Year:

  • Celeste Guzmán – Taekwondo
  • Adriana Bermúdez- Athletics
  • Elena Amos- Swimming

Male Athlete of the Year:

  • José Vargas- Sports dance
  • Diego Cálix – Judo
  • Marcelo “Chelo” Arévalo- Tennis
  • Herbert Aceituno- Parapowerlifting
  • Christopher Astorga – Taekwondo

The ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 pm this Saturday and will be open to the general public, INDES reported through its X social network account.
