Il Kingdom of Yugoslavia Basketball Championship 1940 was an unofficial basketball championship of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. It was played on 28 and 29 September 1940 in Borovo, and 6 teams participated, divided into two groups. All teams represented city teams: 4 Croatian (Karlovac, Osijek, Sušak and Zagreb), 2 Serbian (Belgrade and Petrovgrad).

The first official basketball championship of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was supposed to be held in 1941, but did not take place due to the German invasion of the country.
