Two key defensive players, Dallas Turner and Blake Cashman, have been hit wiht significant fines for infractions committed during the game.In the frist quarter, defensive end Dallas Turner was penalized for unneeded roughness. the league has levied a fine of $19,907 against him for the incident. Shortly after, linebacker Blake Cashman was also flagged for an illegal use of his helmet during a play. This resulted in a steeper fine of $23,186 for Cashman, marking his second game back after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the season opener against the Chicago Bears.Fortunately for the Vikings, neither Turner nor Cashman will face a suspension for their respective violations.
This news comes as the Vikings prepare for a crucial matchup against the Detroit Lions next Sunday. The team is also set to welcome back second-year quarterback JJ McCarthy to the starting lineup. McCarthy’s return is necessitated by an injury to Carson Wentz, who recently underwent surgery for a non-throwing shoulder issue.
McCarthy’s comeback is particularly noteworthy given his early-season struggles.After appearing in only two games to kick off the season, he was sidelined for six weeks, missing five games due to a sprained ankle.The timing of the 22-year-old’s return is far from ideal for the Vikings, who currently hold a 3-4 record and are still finding their footing at the professional level.
