The Vietnamese delegation participated in 4/5 of the finals, including men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles; she brilliantly won 2 gold medals in men’s singles and women’s singles.
The first match was the mixed doubles final between Surasit Ariyabaraneekul and Atitaya Povanon (Thailand) and Loh Ziheng and Noragilah Maisarah (Malaysia). The meeting, full of beautiful shots, was fascinating. From the start, the two pairs engaged in a fierce battle, constantly exchanging points and demonstrating great technique and coordination. After three intense rounds, Malaysia demonstrated their strength of character and ability to make the difference in decisive moments, exploiting their opponents’ mistakes to win 2-1 and claim the mixed doubles gold medal.
The women’s singles final between Vu Thi Trang (Vietnam) and Tonrug Saeheng (Thailand) offered the public a high-quality spectacle. After a narrow 21-19 victory in the first set, Trang had to face a spectacular comeback from his opponent in the second. Both players competed for every point with tenacity and great tactical flexibility. Despite their best efforts, Vu Thi Trang lost 18-21, forcing a deciding third set. In this third set, with her courage and experience, the Vietnamese took the initiative and led the match. Although his opponent demonstrated great physical power and sometimes put up strong resistance, the finesse of his punches and the precision of his counterattacks allowed Vu Thi Trang to quickly regain the advantage. The Thai received a yellow card for protest. Maintaining her level of play, Vu Thi Trang won 21-11, winning the match 2-1 and offering the gold medal to the Vietnamese team.
The men’s singles final between Le Duc Phat (Vietnam) and Jewel Angelo Albo (Philippines) clearly demonstrated the level and courage of these two excellent players. From the first set, the match was a real standoff, with the two players competing for each point fiercely. Thanks to exceptional control and agility, the Filipino was able to seize his chance and win 21-15. In the second set, Le Duc Phat adjusted his tactics brilliantly, multiplying powerful smashes and precise controls, thus destabilizing his opponent. His flexible playing style and combativeness allowed the Vietnamese to regain the advantage and lead 21-13. In the deciding set, the two players engaged in a fierce fight. Despite a good start from his opponent and a quick lead, Le Duc Phat was able to recover, playing with calm and perseverance on the counter-attack. His clever shots and calmness allowed him to achieve a spectacular breakthrough and win the third set 21-15. With a final score of 2-1, Le Duc Phat brilliantly defeated his Filipino opponent, winning the men’s singles gold medal for the Vietnamese team.
The women’s doubles final between Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan and Than Van Anh (Vietnam) and Kim Ha Na and Jeon Jui (Korea) took place at a frantic pace. In the first set, the Korean pair demonstrated excellent coordination, great agility and surgical precision in attack, quickly winning 21-12. In the second set, Kim Ha Na and Jeon Jui maintained their dominance and took the lead from the first minutes. However, the two Vietnamese showed great combativeness, relentlessly returning to the charge thanks to powerful smashes and solid defense, and managing to equalize in the last points. The match took a dramatic turn when the Korean pair seized their chances in the deciding points, narrowly winning 22-20 to claim the 2-0 victory and the gold medal.
The men’s doubles final between Faizal Pangestu and Anju Siahaan (Indonesia) and Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh (Vietnam) offered the public a thrilling match until the last minute. In the first half, both teams competed fiercely, with each point being hotly contested. However, thanks to excellent coordination and incisive attacks, the Indonesian pair gradually widened the gap and won 21-18. In the second half, the Vietnamese adjusted their tactics, playing with more confidence and initiative. Their combativeness allowed Hoang and Manh to return to the game, despite constant pressure from their opponents. In this tense match, Indonesia made several mistakes, giving Vietnam the opportunity to score a dramatic 23-21 victory, tying the match at 1-1. The second half saw a great comeback from Indonesia. Quickly regaining their game, the Vietnamese players used their experience and speed to finally win 21-12. In the end, Faizal Pangestu and Anju Siahaan won 2-1, winning the gold medal in the men’s doubles event for the Indonesian team.
The “Felet Vietnam International Series 2025” badminton tournament took place from October 28 to November 2 at the Bac Ninh Provincial Stadium. It brought together 253 players from 18 countries and territories, divided into 5 categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. The Vietnamese team consisted of 87 athletes and coaches. This tournament helped promote sport, particularly badminton, and enrich the cultural and spiritual life of the inhabitants of Bac Ninh province.
