Vémola Rejects Veteran MMA Fight | Octagon Refusal

I don’t want the whole stadium to boo me, Vémola refused the battle of veterans in the Octagon

“The Terminator” has made it clear how he feels about a potential matchup with the MMA veteran.

Octagon recently boasted the acquisition of Polish legend Michał Materla. As soon as he appeared in the cage to introduce himself to the fans of the domestic stable, speculation began about a duel with Karlos Vémola. The former champion has been calling for this opponent for a long time.

However, Vémola admits that now the match no longer makes sense to him. “I think it’s too late for Materla to bring me out of retirement. I don’t think it’s a match that a Czech fan would want to see at any cost.” he said in an interview with Sport.cz, adding that the veteran is more suitable for addressing Polish fans. “And do I want to wrestle in Poland against a Pole with the whole stadium booing me? I don’t want to. I can’t imagine it.”

Subsequently, he indicated that the Polish colleague was a little overheard. “I think even Materla should be retired due to his health. He’s not the Materla I always wanted to beat anymore. This fight doesn’t appeal to me.” In the end, he chose a representative for himself. “A more interesting match will be between Materla and Mach Muradov, their paths also crossed,” he referred to his partner. But in the end, he left the door open after all. “Never say never – if someone pays, we’ll see.” he smirked.

In addition, it is not yet clear how Materla is doing in terms of health. It is rumored that he will probably not deliver MMA in the Octagon, after all, Ondřej Novotný indicated that in his case there could be a match under different rules. We will probably learn more at the beginning of next year. The tournament with Materla will take place on April 11 in Szczecin.
