Munich – Tommy Haas shows his private side: The former tennis world number two published an emotional series of pictures on Instagram for his daughter Valentina’s 15th birthday. “This is 15… Love you Vivi #girldad,” wrote the 46-year-old on several heartfelt father-daughter photos that show him and his eldest daughter in intimate moments.
The pictures document the close relationship between the Hamburg native and his daughter. Among other things, the two can be seen in a picturesque sunset photo on the beach; in another, Valentina sits on her father’s lap while he gives a press conference. The natural recordings provide rare insights into the private life of the tennis legend, who is usually very reserved about personal details.

The post is particularly emotional given the recent changes in Haas’ personal life. It was not until 2024 that his long-time partner Sara Foster confirmed their separation after 18 years together. The couple had been together since 2006 and got engaged in 2008, but a wedding never followed. After Valentina, who was born in 2010, the couple had another daughter, Josephine, in 2015.
The hashtag “#girldad” underlines Haas’ pride in his role as father of two daughters. Despite the separation from Foster, the former professional seems to maintain a close relationship with his children. The family lived together for a long time in Los Angeles, where Haas has also had US citizenship since 2010.
Haas is one of the best German tennis players of recent times. He won 15 titles on the ATP tour and achieved his best placement in the world rankings with second place in May 2002. He also reached at least the quarterfinals in all four Grand Slam tournaments.
Even after his resignation in 2018, Haas remained loyal to tennis. He has been active as tournament director of the prestigious Masters in Indian Wells, California, since 2016, and also frequently takes the court at legends matches or for good causes. (LuHa)
