Twice he watched his teammate Jakub Markovič enjoy the fanfare of the Champions League on the pitch, but this time Jindřich Staněk was no longer missing from the lineup. And although Slavia did not win again in Europe, he personally experienced an extremely successful match, he even kept a clean sheet in the millionaire competition at the eighth attempt. He saved Slavia from further disappointment with four elite saves and quite understandably can be called the hero of the match.
Do you feel that way?
“I don’t think so. We all did a great job at the back. Of course I had some work to do, but we did it together.
Surely you mean the three procedures in a few minutes…
“When you catch it, you feel great. Sometimes you don’t have a chance to catch it and you’re just pissed off. I’m glad I helped like that.”
What was the hardest?
“Definitely the Navarra header. But also the break in the opening minutes, luckily the player didn’t hit it cleanly. If I had gone forward, maybe it could have skipped me. A really difficult moment, but from then on I’m there. I’m happy for my first clean sheet in this competition. But the defenders did incredible things.”
But I can sense from your voice that the 0-0 draw is regrettable.
“Sorry, we played at home. But in this competition, every point is good.”
The cabin was taking it that this match is “either or” in terms of fights for possible promotion.
“Of course. But we’ll go into every game trying to win. This competition is really extremely tough. We’ll see, there’s still a few games left.”
At the end of the first half, Michal Sadílek was hit by an opponent and you immediately ran to him, although the game continued. Did it look that serious?
“Yes, he was out of breath, which scared me. I wanted to run to him right away, but the referee didn’t stop it and then there was action from the right. It was only after we blocked the cross that we could deal with it. When you see your team-mate can’t breathe but at the same time you can’t leave the goal, it’s difficult. Fortunately, it worked out well.”
It was a very competitive match, wasn’t it?
“The field got really soft for us and we expected it to be a lot of fights. I also slipped a lot a few times, it wasn’t ideal from me. There wasn’t much football there.”
Štěpán Chaloupek mentioned that you wanted to go into the match carefully. Did you feel respect from your opponent or pressure from the home environment?
“We felt that we had a chance to win. We went into the match with that. On the other hand, this is a team that finished fourth in La Liga, the quality is huge, they are good on the ball. But as I say, we all saw that it wasn’t much football. Every point for the Czech club in the Champions League is good.”

STAMPS Slavia: Holeš as a knight of Blanica, Sadílek otloukánek. Who did Bilbao physically run over?

Trpišovský: We take the point, the goalkeepers are Slavia’s decoration. Valverde? They say we are the same crazy people
