Sparta: Turnaround Plan & Hope for Improvement

Warsaw (from our correspondent) – Sparta counts only three wins from the last eight competitive matches away from home. The last one came on Saturday in the aforementioned match in Boleslav (2:1).

“We know that overall we are not doing well outside,” reports Priske. “Obviously our goal is to get three points and I think we have a good chance to succeed in Poland,” added midfielder Kaan Kairinen.

He will be against an opponent who is no longer in dazzling form. Legia is up to twelfth in the domestic league, led by interim head coach Iňaki Artiz, and has not won a single one of the last six competitive matches.

“They are struggling in the league, they have not won several times in a row, but now it will be a different game. They are at home and have a chance to prove themselves. They are still a good team, I expect an open duel,” says Priske.

“They are decorated with tall forwards, a strong backup and offensive defenders. They try to speed up the game a lot. It is not natural for them to wait at the back,” adds the Danish coach.

“It is a strong team with individuality, quality on the ball and with a quick transition forward. Intensity, fast players on the sides. They will definitely be a threat, but we are looking forward to it,” adds Kairinen.

The big topic is, of course, the famous northern stand of Žyleta, where the most loyal supporters are based. “I don’t know exactly how many people will come, whether it will be full, but I’ve heard a lot about the atmosphere. So I’m looking forward, hopefully the stadium will be full,” wishes Kairinen. Priske has already experienced a match at Legia during his time at Midtjylland.

“I remember that the atmosphere here is amazing. Of course we prefer to play at home, but football is best played in front of a full stadium, where the spectators are cheering. I expect the same tomorrow,” he emphasizes.

The match kicks off at 21:00 and both teams can come much closer to progressing to the knockout stages if successful. Legia has three points after three matches in the main phase, i.e. after half time. Sparta just one more.

“We want to win every game, now we have two away duels ahead of us, as we travel to Craiova next. The Conference League is a tough competition with many quality teams. Our plan is clear, we want to win, and for that we need a good performance mentally, physically and tactically,” sums up Priske.
