Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders will remember his first steps in the NFL for a long time. Not only did he have a difficult game against the Ravens, but a theft committed at his home while he was on the field caused him to lose $200,000 US in property.

As a fifth-round pick in the last draft, Sanders received a salary of $840,000 for his first season. This means that his next check will bring him $49,411.76, which is far from being the equivalent of what was stolen from him.
Sanders hadn’t seen action until now and was backing up starter Dillon Gabriel. He took charge of the offense in the second half in Cleveland when Gabriel, another rookie selected ahead of him in the third round, suffered a concussion.
The loudest commotion, however, occurred outside the stadium in Medina County, when three people broke into Sanders’ home at 6:46 p.m., while Sanders was making his debut.
The suspects were seen leaving the house at 6:58 p.m., according to footage available via a security camera.
The footage reportedly shows the suspects entering and exiting different sections of the house. Police later reported that property worth a total of $200,000 had been stolen.
Not a first
NFL players have a major safety problem on their hands. Sanders is in fact not the only player to have been the victim of theft since last season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his Chiefs teammate, tight end Travis Kelce, are the most well-known to have their residence burglarized.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow also suffered the same fate last season, as did Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan.
In the NBA, Luka Doncic of the Lakers was also targeted by a theft when he played for the Dallas Mavericks.
The incident at Sanders’ home remains under investigation. The suspects wore masks and gloves.
