Karlsruhe – FC Schalke 04 lost 2-1 at Karlsruher SC on Saturday afternoon. To make matters worse, the personnel misery at S04 continues to worsen. Coach Miron Muslic had to improvise before kick-off.

On Saturday morning, Janik Bachmann reported ill. Amin Younes came into the starting line-up to replace him, but he had to be replaced after 45 minutes when he was exhausted. “Amin was at his limit in terms of his physicality,” explained Miron Muslic after the game.
Hasan Kurucay was also unable to play at short notice. The defender felt unwell during the warm-up, which is why Felipe Sanchez had to start. “It was a bit chaotic during the warm-up and in the first five or six minutes,” reported the coach.
More problems arose during the 90 minutes. Adrian Gantenbein saw his fifth yellow card and will be suspended from the S04 against Elversberg. Finn Porath was also hit in the final phase. The offensive player, who came on as a substitute for Amin Younes after half-time, had to leave the field after being hit in the head by David Herold. He seemed visibly dazed.
Schalke injuries: S04 traveled south without seven professionals
FC Schalke 04 has not yet provided an update on the players. If Finn Porath is also out, Miron Muslic will run out of alternatives on the right. U19 player Mika Wallentowitz could be an S04 option, as could Henning Matriciani.
The squad was already thinned out before the game in Karlsruhe. Timo Becker, Tomas Kalas, Christopher Antwi-Adjei, Zaid Tchibara, Christian Gomis, Emil Höjlund and Bryan Lasme are out injured anyway.
Schalke coach Miron Muslic doesn’t complain: “We have to perform differently”
Miron Muslic still remains composed. In Karlsruhe he emphasized: “There’s a bit of a common thread running through the season. But we never complained or whined.” The Schalke coach wants to continue to focus on solidarity despite the tense situation. “If players are out, others have to come into the starting lineup and perform.”
