the Tipos slovak Basketball League is seeing a roster shake-up as Slovak national team center Maroš Zelizňák makes a move.
The 26-year-old big man is heading to Prievidza from Slovan Bratislava, a move aimed at bolstering the team’s Slovak contingent and giving the coaching staff more tactical flexibility. Zelizňák’s switch comes after roughly a year wiht his previous club.
“We’re thrilled to have secured Maroš and brought him to Prievidza. our vision is to build a strong foundation of Slovak talent capable of making a notable impact on the scoreboard. At 26, he’s still got a long career ahead, and we’re confident that the habitat and culture we’re cultivating here will help him reach his full potential.”
Prievidza coach Gareth Murray
Murray continued, With this signing, we now have at least one Slovak player at every position, providing a solid core to build around throughout the season and into the future. Maroš brings valuable experience,a strong physical presence,a strong work ethic, and still has plenty of room to grow.
This season,Zelizňák appeared in five Tipos SBL games, posting averages of 3.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest.
“We’re certainly going to miss Maroš. he’s a great guy and a dedicated player. However, during his twelve months with us, his playing time was limited, making a discussion about his future steps a logical progression. Following a smooth agreement with the player, his agent, and his new team, he’s now moving to Prievidza. We want to thank Maroš for his contributions and wish him all the best in his future basketball endeavors.”
