Red Bull F1 Junior Team: Spanish Driver Suspended

“Red Bull” has officially announced that the young Spanish talent Pepe Marti is leaving its junior program, who will continue his career in the “Formula E” championship.

The 20-year-old driver is under the management company of F1 driver Fernando Alonso. Martī spent two seasons in the “Red Bull Junior Team”, but did not get the opportunity to conduct F1 tests. Such an opportunity was not given, although the pilot is currently ahead of several colleagues in the F2 standings, including Arvid Lindblad, who is being linked with a place in the “Racing Bulls” team in 2026.

Martee, who took part in the Formula E pre-season tests in Valencia this week, admitted in an interview that he had expected much more from the Red Bull period.

“Because they didn’t want to,” he said when asked why the opportunity to test an F1 car had never been offered. “I would have been thrilled, but I wasn’t given that opportunity. Maybe I didn’t deserve it, as they think.”

He also admitted that the current sixth place in the F2 championship was not his goal: “If it had gone better in Imola and Monaco, we would probably be talking about something else.”

Martee explained that he was affected by confidence issues during his debut year in the F2 championship last year, especially compared to Isaac Hajjar: “I started trusting other people’s opinions more than myself. And that was wrong.”

The Spaniard added that he also experienced several failures in 2025: “Sometimes there were red flags in qualifying, then, for example, brake problems in Imola”.

Already in December, Martī will start his first season in the “Formula E” championship, where he joined the “Cupra Kiro” team. Although the driver’s results so far in formula competitions have always been quite high, he has not become a champion in any of the categories. In 2023, in his second F3 season, the athlete scored three victories and took fifth place. Currently, in his second F2 season, he has also won three times, but is sixth overall.
