Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes and rushed for 273 yards, and the Los Angeles Rams easily beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night at SoFi Stadium.
The 37-year-old quarterback solidified his candidacy as the NFL’s Most Valuable Player by becoming the first quarterback since Tom Brady in 2021 to throw 30 touchdown passes in his team’s first 11 games. He has only been the victim of two interceptions since the start of the season.
Stafford also tied another NFL record owned by Brady, dating back to the 2010 season. He completed 27 consecutive touchdown passes, without an interception. In all, that’s a total of 308 passes attempted without being intercepted.
Cobie Durant returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown, kicking off a dominant performance that lifted the Rams (9-2) to their sixth straight victory.
Davante Adams caught two touchdown passes for 62 passing yards and improves his haul to 12, including nine in his last five games. He leads the NFL in this regard.
Puka Nacua made seven receptions for 97 yards. New kicker Harrison Mevis also made his first two NFL field goal attempts.
Colby Parkinson also caught a touchdown pass from Stafford, who completed 25 of 35 passes for 273 yards in his eighth straight game without an interception.
The Rams’ defense also stood out, giving up just 123 yards to the Bucs in the first three quarters of the night, during which the team paid tribute to Aaron Donald, who retired in March 2024 after 10 exceptional seasons on the team’s defensive line.
The Buccaneers (6-5) lost the services of quarterback Baker Mayfield in the first half to a left shoulder injury. Tampa Bay has allowed 106 points in its last three games.
Tampa Bay turned to Teddy Bridgewater in the second half.
Tampa Bay’s fourth loss in five games allowed Carolina (6-5) to move to the top of the NFC South division before the Panthers face the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.
