Quilmes Argentine League Debut | La Capital Mar del Plata

In a “José Martínez” packed with people, Quilmes took a promising first step in its presentation in the 2025/2026 Argentine Basketball League. In a match corresponding to the Southern Conference, defeated the tough Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata 83-71 on a night with more highs than lows. And that’s very good for the start of the season.

Javier Bianchelli’s cast set the tone from the start with a dynamic and effective offense. The willingness to get shots in the first few seconds of the possession paid dividends. When it was not possible to achieve them, Moore showed ease in reaching the goal himself. And in the final minutes of the quarter, Alderete came into tune with his good understanding of the game and further enriched the attack.

Quilmes finished 26-19 up in the first ten minutes with 67% in doubles and 50% in triples. When the percentages normalized, starting in the second quarter, they knew how to maintain the light with a defense with few cracks and great intensity based on a rich rotation. An important burst from Luna in the first minutes of the quarter, plus a solid closing from Moore, allowed him to stretch it before the break to a maximum of 43-30.

With Moore at full strength, the start of the third quarter was forceful and the lead climbed to eighteen points. Gimnasia, however, was far from giving up. He maintained the intensity, did not stop fighting, had a couple of high points in the intense Cuban Conde and in the pivot Sinconi and managed to narrow the gap to around ten points.

However, Quilmes managed to keep it at bay almost always with defense and the successes of Moore and Ríos. And at the end of the match, when “Wolf” did the rest, he finished the job with a couple of accurate counterattacks.
