POTENZA PICENA – In a shocking turn of events that unfolded in early March 2020, a domestic dispute in Potenza Picena escalated into a violent assault, culminating in a manS sentencing for aggravated assault and threats. The incident, which involved physical violence and menacing language, highlights the severe consequences of unchecked anger.
The Escalation of Violence
The confrontation began when the 44-year-old accused his partner of maintaining a relationship wiht her ex-boyfriend. What started as a heated argument quickly devolved into physical aggression. Investigators pieced together the harrowing events, revealing a brutal attack that left the victim injured and traumatized.
According to the victim’s account to authorities, the man subjected her to a barrage of punches and kicks. The violence intensified as he reportedly grabbed her by the hair, repeatedly slamming her head against furniture. In a further act of aggression, he then used a baseball bat to strike her arm. The assault extended to her vehicle, which was also damaged during the altercation.
Threats and Aftermath
Beyond the physical assault, the man issued chilling threats, reportedly stating, “Go away because I’ll tear you apart,” and “You have to disappear, otherwise I’ll hurt you, I’ll make you disappear.” These menacing words underscored the severity of the situation and the fear experienced by the victim.
Following the attack, the injured and frightened partner fled the scene. She sought refuge with a friend and afterward received medical attention. Her injuries included a broken hand and a head injury, with a prognosis of 30 days for recovery. She then reported the incident to the police.
Legal Proceedings and Sentencing
The man faced trial on charges of aggravated assault, threats, and property damage. Though, the legal proceedings took a turn when the ex-partner decided to withdraw her complaint.Despite this, the court proceeded with the case concerning the assault and threats.
In a recent hearing presided over by Judge Vittoria Lupi and Prosecutor Rocco Dragonetti, the accused was sentenced to eight months in prison for the charges of injuries and threats. This sentence was subsequently converted into a fine of 2,400 euros. The charge of property damage was dismissed due to the withdrawal of the complaint.
