Paige Greco Death: Paralympic Cycling Champion Dies Aged 28

The world of cycling is in mourning. Australian Paralympic cycling gold medalist Paige Greco died on Sunday aged 28, after a “sudden medical issue”, her family announced on Monday.

Paige Greco broke her own world record by winning the 3,000m individual pursuit in the C1-C3 category at the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games.

She then added a bronze medal in the road race and the C1-3 time trial, cementing her status as a top competitor on both the track and road. The young woman died on Sunday at her home in the city of Adelaide, in southern Australia.

“We are incredibly proud of the person she was”

“While we are devastated by her loss, we are incredibly proud of the person she was and the way she represented Australia,” her mother, Natalie Greco, said in a statement released by the Australian Cycling Federation (AusCycling).

“Paige cherished the connections she made through her sport, and we find comfort in knowing how much she was loved. »

Paige Greco has won numerous titles in world-class competitions. Last August, she won the bronze medal at the World Paralympic Road Running Championship in Belgium.
