It looked bleak for Toronto for a long time. But once Swedish William Nylander got going, he was able to secure the team’s 4–3 victory against Pittsburgh.
The very first goal of the match was provided by Swede Erik Karlsson, when he ensured that Pittsburgh took the lead in the first period. Going into the third period, Pittsburgh led 3–0, but that was before Nylander got going for Toronto.
The first score came three and a half minutes into the final period, when Nylander assisted teammate Auston Matthews. Not even a minute later, the Swedish star had scored his first goal of the match. The dream minutes ended with the equalizer at 3-3 barely seven minutes into the third, then with an assist from Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
– We played lousy for two periods, so we just tried to do something, says Nylander after the game according to nhl.com.
– We simply simplified our game.
After Bobby McMann scored the game’s last goal with just over six minutes remaining, Toronto was able to take home the game 4–3.
