Italian Marco Bezzecchi will start at the head of the sprint race and the Portuguese Grand Prix, the 21st round of 22 of the MotoGP season, after setting the best time in qualifying on Saturday.
The Aprilia rider will start on the front row ahead of Spaniard Pedro Acosta (KTM) and Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, third on his Yamaha.
Quartararo had to go through the repechage (Q1) earlier in the morning to be able to participate in the second part of qualifying (Q2), where pole is played out among the twelve fastest drivers. Enough to fuel great ambitions for the penultimate race of the season.

Author of five pole positions this season, the 2021 world champion is struggling to achieve success in the race. His last victory dates back to June 2022.
The double 2022-2023 world champion, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), will be fourth on the starting grid for the sprint race this Saturday at 4 p.m. (French time), and Sunday on that of the GP whose start will be given at 2 p.m.
Zarco will start sixth
The second Frenchman entered in MotoGP, Johann Zarco (Honda-LCR), will start sixth behind Spaniard Alex Marquez, fifth.
Guaranteed to finish second in the championship, the Ducati-Gresini rider – in very good form since the start of the weekend – crashed at the very end of qualifying, destroying his chances of winning his second pole of the season.
Injured, the Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati) – already assured of the title in the premier category – and his compatriot 2024 world champion Jorge Martin (Aprilia) are absent this weekend.
