A lot of bad things have happened in a short period of time in the last few months, says Türmer. As examples he cited the GEAS reform, the planned tightening of citizens’ money and Friedrich Merz’s statements about the cityscape. There were weeks when he would have liked to lock himself up and put his cell phone away, said Türmer. “It’s not easy to be on the left right now.”
For his new term of office, he announced that he wanted to professionalize membership recruitment and work to ensure that the Jusos grow. At the same time, he spoke out in favor of setting more substantive priorities with the party youth. “I want us to get back on the offensive,” said Türmer. Conservatives and the right should work on them again, not the other way around.
