Manchester City rose to second place in the Premier League on Sunday night after beating Bournemouth 3-1.

A brace from Erling Haaland and a goal from Nico O’Reilly were enough to cancel out Tyler Adams’ first-half goal, helping Pep Guardiola’s side to a hard-fought three points at the Etihad Stadium.

The result puts City six points behind leaders Arsenal, while Liverpool are one point behind third place. Meanwhile, Bournemouth drop to fourth place, while Andoni Iraola suffers only his second league defeat of the season.

City have been in a similar situation before. During the 2022/2023 season, they overturned an eight-point deficit to lead Arsenal to the title, and with all three expected title rivals occupying the top positions, the race appears to be heating up again.
