The 2025 Madagascar badminton championship, senior category, ended in excitement at the Ankorondrano gymnasium yesterday. This edition saw the Malagasy rackets compete in a whirlwind of tight sets, reminding us that in badminton, it is often at the last point that the fate is decided. Comparing to last year, where the elites had already established their seals with a clearer domination, 2025 reveals an increased maturity: the narrower scores reflect competition that is biting with all its teeth, far from the abysmal differences of 2024.
In the men’s singles series A1, the cream of the crop, Razafimandimby Tokinirina (MB2ALL) did it again as undisputed champion, defeating Randriamalala Julio Keman (DDBC) on the razor’s edge, 2 sets to 1 (21-14, 16-21, 22-20). This thriller in three acts irresistibly evokes his 2024 victory against Alfasiel Evenon (DDBC) in 21-12, 9-21, 21-18. But this time, the opponent was able to pick up the score. Third places go to Ratovoarimanga Eddinoh Hasinavalona (LCSM Itaosy) and Haja Marc (DDBC), who, like Andriamandimbisoa Angelo (St Joseph Mahamasina) last year, are already watching for the next breach to invite themselves to the feast.
On the ladies’ side of the A1 series, Razafimamonjiarison Stéphania (MB2ALL) retained her scepter with hushed authority, dominating her teammate Razanamaly Elianina (MB2ALL) 2-0
(21-19, 21-12), an internal club duel which smacks of healthy rivalry. Compared to his coronation in 2024 against Razanamaly Soaniaina (MB2ALL) in 21-16, 21-11, this match, which was more focused on the first set, illustrates collective progress. Arijesa Miotisoa (DDBC) and Rasolonoelina Andrianjaka (MB2ALL) complete the podium.
The A2 men’s series saw Rakotojaona Tokinirina (St Joseph Mahamasina) emerge like a master, sweeping Razakasoavina Andriambola (MB2ALL) 2-0 (21-16, 22-20). Absent from the radar in 2024, this internal triumph at MB2ALL underlines the depth of the club’s pool, contrasting with the more open B series last year. Rakotovao Tahiry (Antsirabe BC, LCSM Itoasy) and Andriantsoa Oliarijao Narindra (LCSM Itoasy) bring up the rear.
