LTV Basketball Broadcast Rights: 2029 Deal

LSM acquired such rights from November of this year until 2029 as a member organization of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). LTV will broadcast the FIBA World Cup, FIBA European Championship, FIBA World Cup and FIBA European Championship qualifiers, as well as the FIBA Olympic Games qualifiers.

In the live broadcasts of major tournaments, public media will cover not only the group games, but also the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

LTV Sport editorial director Andris Ušackis expressed his satisfaction that LTV will be able to fully cover the official matches of the Latvian national men’s team after a break of many years. “With the studio program, interviews and game analysis, we will give the audience a broader understanding of what is happening and allow us to enjoy the emotional atmosphere of the events. Our goal is to go to the final tournament of the 2027 World Cup together with the Latvian national team,” says Ušackis.

LTV7 and “replay.lv” will be able to watch live broadcasts of the FIBA selection tournaments, where fans will be able to follow the Latvian women’s and men’s basketball team matches.

Women’s European Championship selection matches are expected on November 12 against Slovenia, on November 15 against the Netherlands, and on November 18 against Estonia. On the other hand, the World Cup selection matches of the men’s team are expected on November 28 against the Netherlands, and on December 1 – against Austria.

The four-year agreement between EBU and FIBA provides that national basketball matches will be shown on the platforms of 19 EBU member organizations in Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.
