LG Basketball & Falcon Celebration: Year in Review

The Peregrine Falcon and its twins dominated professional sports in 2025.

Professional basketball Changwon LG Sakers lifted the champion trophy at the end of the 7th game of the 2024-2025 season professional basketball championship against Seoul SK on May 17. They advanced to the playoffs as 2nd place in the regular league and defeated the 1st place team, SK.

Five months later, the professional baseball LG Twins celebrated their overall victory in Daejeon. After ending the regular season in first place, they defeated Hanwha in the Korean Series (KS).

This is the first time since the founding of each club that the ‘brother clubs’ LG Sakers and Twins have reached the top in the same year. The Sakers won the championship for the first time since their founding in 1997. The Twins won the KS championship every other year in 2023 and 2025, and the previous championship was in 1994, before the founding of the Sakers.

This year, the LG Twins cheered on their brother basketball team through the ‘Shoot Ceremony’, which symbolized a basketball shooting pose. The existing hit ceremony was the ‘V4 Prayer Ceremony’, which involves raising four fingers with both hands. However, when the LG Sakers entered the semifinal playoffs in April, the LG Twins players changed their ceremony. After hitting a hit and getting on base, he took a basketball shooting pose toward the dugout.

LG Twins captain Park Hae-min explained the meaning of the ceremony at the time, saying, “We had a difficult season, and I hope it bears fruit. Although we are small, we wanted to add strength through the ceremony.” Sakers starting point guard Yang Jun-seok said, “The LG Twins players give basketball ceremonies after hitting hits, and I want to repay their support.”

LG Sakers won the championship for the first time since its founding after a difficult championship game that went all the way to Game 7. And then it was time for baseball. The Twins, who returned to the traditional V4 ceremony after the Sakers’ victory, began posing for shots at the base again at the end of the regular season. It was to receive the ‘winning spirit’ of the brothers’ basketball team that reached the top first.

The ‘shoot ceremony’ continued in KS, where the final match took place. Before the 5th game on the 31st of last month, Park Hae-min said, “Because the basketball team of the same affiliate won first, we changed (the team ceremony) to a shot ceremony to receive that energy,” and added, “I told the players to make 2025 the year of LG.”

LG Twins finally achieved ‘V4’ on the 31st of last month. As hoped through the shoot ceremony, 2025 has become the ‘Year of LG.’
