“I understand that according to the rules it is a problem if you hit a teammate, but I also see the other side: I like it when players fight with each other after a bad ball or action,” coach Moyes said about the incident.
“For a winning team, with the resilience and tenacity that got us this result, you need players to respond in a certain way.”
Emotions
Gueye later wrote in a post on Instagram that he was sorry. The Senegalese apologized to his fellow player Keane and his other teammates. “I take full responsibility for my response,” he wrote. “Emotions can run high, but nothing justifies this behavior. I will make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Everton won 1-0 against United. “I am proud of the team,” said Moyes. “With eleven players it was not an easy match, but with ten players it was an incredible achievement.”
