Emotional Performance & Audience Connection

“It’s fantastic, now I just want to continue working to achieve my goals, because football is my life.” Paul Pogba is back on the pitch 26 months after the last time, after overcoming his doping ban. Disappointed by his Monaco’s defeat in Rennes, the French midfielder was however impressed by the opponent’s stadium who stood up to applaud him when he entered the pitch. “It really moved me to see the crowd stand up and applaud. I really didn’t expect it, and a huge thank you to all the fans who were here today and supported me,” Pogba said after the match. Now, he added, I have to “try to bring positive energy, not concede a goal and, of course, have fun because it’s been a long time: but I’m relieved to be back playing football, which is what I love most in the world. Now there’s still work to do to get back to full fitness and play a match of 90 minutes and help the team as much as possible,” he added immediately. Asked if he continues to dream of a return to the national team, Pogba replied clearly: “I have to really get back into shape to help the team, because if I’m not in shape, if I play badly and don’t perform well for Monaco, then I forget about the French national team (…). Today I only think about Monaco.”
