Novak Djokovic wins the ATP 250 tournament in Athens and renounces the ATP Finals in Turin. Today, Saturday 8 November, the Serbian tennis player announced that he will not play in the Masters Tournament, which starts tomorrow, thus leaving room for Lorenzo Musetti, beaten in the final of the Greek tournament: “I couldn’t wait to compete in Turin and give my all, but after today’s final in Athens, I’m sorry to have to announce my withdrawal due to an ongoing injury”, the 38-year-old announced.

The clue at the end of the game

At the end of the epic final of the Greek tournament against Lorenzo Musetti, the Serbian hugged the Italian and complimented him on the great performance he put in on the pitch. The cameras then ‘pinned’ a lip that would ‘take’ the Tuscan to the ATP Finals: “You will be there too in Turin”.

And’hypothesis which was then also confirmed by Fitpwho published a post on Instagram writing: “See you in Turin, Muso!! The forfeit announced by Novak Djokovic after the final in Athens means that Lorenzo rightfully enters the ATP Finals! For the first time, Italy will have TWO qualifiers in the singles tournament and two in the doubles tournament”, wrote the Federation on its official profile, attaching a photo of the Mole illuminated with Musetti’s face

Djokovic: “Musetti plays exceptional tennis”

However, the Serbian has not yet made his decision official regarding the Turin tournament. During the awards ceremony, Nole limited himself to thanks: “Respect for Lorenzo, you had a wonderful performance. I know it’s not nice to be told you lost after three hours of great tennis, the positive thing is your exceptional game. You perhaps show the best tennis on earth, but you’ve improved so much that the future will be truly brilliant.” Djokovic added: “Thanks to Greece. I hope this tournament stays here for the future, for a long time. And thanks to all my family, all my best friends are here too. For me it’s like playing at home.”
