A Celebration of Sporting Excellence in Viterbo

Viterbo and its surrounding province are set to take center stage this Saturday as the CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) Sports Merit awards ceremony celebrates the remarkable achievements of athletes, coaches, managers, and sports clubs from 2023. The prestigious event will be held at the Florida Theatre in Soriano nel cimino, commencing at 10:30 AM.

This annual recognition underscores the dedication and passion that fuel sports within the region, mirroring the spirit seen in major American sporting events like the ESPY Awards, where top performers are lauded for their extraordinary contributions.

The ceremony will be graced by the presence of key figures in Italian sports governance, including CONI Lazio President Alessandro Cochi and Provincial Delegate Ugo Baldi. They will be joined by regional presidents of National Sports Federations, the Mayor of Soriano nel Cimino, Roberto Camilli, and local sports officials. Together, they will honor the individuals and organizations that have truly distinguished themselves over the past year.

A total of 11 CONI Sports Merit awards will be presented, highlighting a broad range of contributions to the sporting landscape.These accolades are divided into several categories, ensuring that every facet of sporting success is acknowledged:

• Sports Clubs: One Bronze Star will be awarded.
• Managers: One Gold Star, two Silver Stars, and two Bronze Stars will be presented.
• Coaches (Technicians): One Bronze Palm will be awarded.
• Athletes: Four Bronze Medals of Merit will be bestowed.
