There was a mass brawl between supporters of FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund at Cologne Central Station. According to the federal police, “a total of 340 supporters of each of the two clubs were involved” early Saturday morning. The police confirmed a report from “Bild”. While the Dortmund fans were waiting to continue their journey after returning from the away game at FC Augsburg, a train with Schalke supporters drove past on the neighboring track. They were on the way to the away game at Karlsruher SC. The Schalke train was stopped by an emergency brake in the station – as a result, numerous supporters of both camps stormed out of their trains and attacked each other.
Federal police used pepper spray and batons to separate the groups. A police officer was injured. The fans were able to be pushed back onto their trains and the journeys continued. According to police, there were no arrests. However, the investigations are ongoing and video recordings are being evaluated, among other things.
