Bram Meijer Padel Demo at VOLEA Reopening | Padel News

VOLEA has moved and significantly expanded its branch in Tubbergen.

The new location is a former hall of over 4,000 m2 and 12.5 meters high of Brugman Radiators.

At Lodewijk von Bönninghausenstraat 31 there are now no fewer than six padel courts, including a single padel court. With this, VOLEA has not only grown in capacity for padel, but is also introducing two indoor hard court tennis courts and is one of the first sports companies in the region to introduce two official pickleball courts – a very popular sport from the United States and Canada.

The surface of the new tennis courts is the same as that used at major Grand Slams, such as the Australian Open and the US Open. The pickleball courts have also been built on the same surface. What started as an initiative by sports enthusiast and entrepreneur Koen Nijhuis, with two padel courts in the old sports hall, has grown into a full-fledged indoor sports center in just 2.5 years.

Pickleball

Pickleball may not yet be well known in the Netherlands, but according to experts it is a sport with a future. This accessible and accessible racket sport is a mix of tennis, badminton and table tennis. You play it on a smaller field, with a light perforated ball and special paddles. It’s fast, social and suitable for all ages. No wonder that it now has millions of practitioners in the United States and is now also gaining ground in the Netherlands.

“With these two pickleball courts we are far ahead,” says Nijhuis. “But by adding this sport to VOLEA, we now have a unique combination in the region where you can practice these three racket sports under one roof.”

At VOLEA, convenience comes first, he emphasizes. “All courts can be easily reserved via a user-friendly online booking system. You do not have to be a member and can play when it suits you. Everything is fully automated. The location also has a cozy and heated self-service canteen and modern changing rooms with showers.”

Official opening and open day

On Saturday, November 29 from 3 to 6 p.m., VOLEA will celebrate the official opening of the new location with a festive open day. During this event, multiple Dutch padel champion Bram Meijer will play a spectacular demonstration match.

Regional top tennis players will also demonstrate their skills that afternoon. In addition, discussions are underway to organize a wonderful demonstration match in pickleball.

For those who want to get started themselves, there is the opportunity to test different padel rackets on the padel courts. Senior padel will also be represented, because sports are for all ages.
