Benfica Hockey Championship: CREATE-T Coverage

Leader of the South Zone of the National Championship, the women’s roller hockey team from Benfica continued the perfect start to the competition, beating CRIAR-T by an impressive 17 unanswered goals in the 6th round held this Sunday night, November 23rd.

At the Leonel Fernandes Municipal Pavilion, home of Seixal’s formation, the eagles dominated an opponent who started this round in the penultimate place. At 5′, Rita Batista opened the asset. In the same minute, there were two more goals. The striker scored twice shortly afterwards, before the captain Marlene Sousa extends the score.

Losing 0-3, the CRIAR-T coach requested timeout.

The Reds continued to shoot more and the score was only extended more times due to the actions of goalkeeper Beatriz Alves.

However, Benfica’s value was felt with the goals by Marlene Sousa (9′), Leonor Coelho (10′), Maria Sofia Silva (13′, 21′ and 25′) e Aimee Blackman (18′). At halftime, the team led by Paulo Almeida won 0-9.

In a duel in which the differences between the two teams were evident, the result increased with goals from Leonor Coelho (27′), Rita Batista (31′), Sara Roces (33′ e 36′), Marlene Sousa (37′), Raquel Santos (39′), Maria Sofia Silva (40′) and Inês Severino (44′), author of the 17th and last accurate shot of the match.

It should be noted that in the best situation to score, CRIAR-T did not convert a penalty, as Madalena Santana’s shot was defended by Lili Buchouxat 38′.

The next challenge for the twelve-time national champions is scheduled for Sunday, November 30th. At 11 am, at Pavilhão Fidelidade, the reds receive CP Manlleuin the game of the 1st round of the Grupo B da WSE Champions League Women.
