Badminton State League: BSC 95 Lead Standings

The Badminton Sport Club 95 Schwerin is making a strong statement in the state league, solidifying its position as a top contender for the championship. After a dominant second matchday, the team secured two decisive victories against PSV Rostock and SV Motor Süd Neubrandenburg, maintaining an undefeated streak and claiming the top spot in the standings with a perfect 8:0 points.

This latest success builds on an already stellar start to the season. The previous week, Schwerin kicked off their campaign with a hard-fought 5:3 win over BSV unit Greifswald and a commanding 6:2 victory against GSV 98, signaling their serious title aspirations.

On November 2nd, in Rostock Reutershagen, the BSC once again showcased their formidable talent. Facing Neubrandenburg, the Schwerin squad demonstrated extraordinary teamwork. Despite a spirited challenge from the opposing team, which included a notable international player, Schwerin emerged victorious with a convincing 6:2 scoreline. This result was later adjusted to a 7:1 win after it was discovered a Neubrandenburg player competed without proper eligibility. The encounter with newcomers PSV Rostock proved equally one-sided, with the BSC securing another 6:2 triumph.

“We clearly wanted to build on the performance of the first matchday – we definitely succeeded,” stated team captain Dettmann, expressing satisfaction with the team’s consistent execution.

Schwerin’s status as a favorite for the 2025/2026 season is well-earned, bolstered by a roster featuring some of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s most promising badminton talents. The squad includes Roman Pokrasen, a three-time U17 national champion; Christian Pril, a three-time U19 national champion; Bruno Seichter, a three-time LEM medalist; and the two-time U17 national champions hermine Kunz and Lara Dethloff (who was sidelined due to illness on Sunday). This new, young generation brings enormous dynamism and tournament experience at a high level to the league, Dettmann added. Their blend of youthful energy and seasoned competition is a clear advantage.

The team’s next challenge is set for November 30th, when the young schwerin squad travels to Greifswald to face the reigning champions, GSV 98. This matchup promises to be a meaningful test of their championship mettle.
