Andújar Gears Up to Host Prestigious Spanish Archery Grand Prix
Andújar,Spain – Get ready for a world-class display of precision and power as Andújar prepares to host the Spanish Archery Grand Prix on March 14-15. This event isn’t just another competition; it’s one of the three biggest national archery showdowns, rivaling the importance of events in Madrid and Valladolid. The city is set to become the epicenter of the archery world, drawing approximately 300 competitors, including elite athletes from across Europe and even reigning world champions.
The Sebastián García Laguna Municipal Stadium will serve as the main venue for the Grand prix. But the excitement doesn’t stop there. The Fair Pavilion will also be buzzing with activity, hosting the Andalusian Indoor 3D Shooting Championships and Various Divisions on December 13-14, along with the Provincial Championship later in the year.
Francisco Carmona, the mayor of Andújar, emphasized the multifaceted significance of this event. It is indeed a very critically important event as it can bring together around 300 participants and has the particularity that, as it is an open grand prix, archers from diffrent European countries will be able to compete. This gives it greater relevance and quality even than a national championship.
He further highlighted the event’s potential to boost tourism and invigorate the local hospitality sector, calling it a grate sporting opportunity, tourism promotion and boost for the restaurant and accommodation sector.
The Andalusian Archery Federation, lead by its president Antonio Cuenca, has been instrumental in bringing this high-caliber event to Andújar. Cuenca, who also heads the Andújar Archers Club, spoke about the city’s deep roots in the sport. For more than a decade we have been organizing local, provincial and Andalusian competitions.
He sees the Grand Prix as a pivotal moment, taking another step and consolidating Andújar as a national reference.
