Amorim January Shots: Key Moments

Jakarta

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly zeroing in on two key targets to bolster his squad during the January winter transfer window.

Since taking the helm from Erik ten Hag in November 2024, amorim has grappled with team inconsistency, ultimately leading Manchester United to a 15th-place finish, their lowest ever in the Premier League era.

The summer transfer window saw the club bring in several players deemed a good fit for Amorim’s tactical approach, including Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Senne Lammens, who have shown promising early performances.

With the next transfer window on the horizon, Amorim is said to have already identified his priority signings, with a clear focus on strengthening the midfield.

According to reports from the Mirror, the first name on Amorim’s wishlist is Nottingham Forest’s dynamic midfielder, Elliot Anderson.

Anderson’s versatility in the midfield, capable of playing as a deep-lying number 6 or a box-to-box engine, makes him an ideal candidate to fit Amorim’s system, much like a quarterback orchestrating plays on the gridiron.

Currently, Anderson is under contract with Forest until the summer of 2029, with an estimated valuation hovering around £75 million.

The second player reportedly on Ruben Amorim’s radar to bolster the squad is carlos Baleba,a promising midfielder from Brighton.

Baleba’s name has been linked with Manchester United since last summer, and that interest appears to be unwavering.

However, a significant hurdle remains regarding his price tag. Last summer, reports indicated that Brighton had slapped a £100 million valuation on Baleba, a figure that the Red Devils seemed hesitant to meet, akin to a team balking at the asking price for a star player in a high-stakes trade.
