Van Gaal about role at Ajax: ‘An advisor advises, bears no responsibility’

Louis van Gaal thinks he knows the solution to Ajax’s problems, but accepts his role as an advisor and also sees that policymakers do not always follow his line.

“This role is not written for me,” he said with a knowing smile at the presentation of the book by former player Tijani Babangida. Van Gaal spoke for the first time about the current crisis at Ajax.

“An advisor gives his advice and those who receive the advice do with it what they want,” the 74-year-old former Ajax coach explained. “That is very different from taking responsibility.”

“Van Gaal has been manipulated in his role by Danny Blind. One thousand percent certain,” Jansen said.

‘Makes no sense’

When asked what Van Gaal thought about the things that were said about him, he said: “That’s okay, but it really doesn’t make sense.”

“I’m trying to help,” he continued. “It’s very difficult, but I have to do it. I do it for my club.”

According to Van Gaal, it will take another two to three years before Ajax is back to normal: “If they follow my line, but they don’t always follow my line.”

Louis van Gaal received Tijani Babangida’s biography on Tuesday evening
