Nine judokas (four men and five women) will represent Algeria at the 2025 edition of the African Open international tournament in Abidjan, scheduled for a single day, Sunday November 30 in the Ivorian capital, following the competition program recently revealed by the organizers.
They also have Aymen Yahiaoui (-60 kg), Mohamed Sid Ahmed Guemah (-66 kg), Mustapha Gherouti (-66 kg) and Mohamed Benyoucef (-73 kg) among the messengers, including Hiba Bentaleb (-48 kg), Rahma Ghalima (-48 kg), Anais Lycia Guebli (-52 kg), Amina Douniazed Rezoug (-70 kg) and Rania Bouallal (-78 kg) in these rooms.
The weight categories used for men are -60 kg, -66 kg, -73 kg, -81 kg, -90 kg, -100 kg and +100 kg, while for women, the weight categories used are -48 kg, -52 kg, -57 kg, -63 kg, -70 kg, -78 kg and +78 kg.
The qualifiers and repechages will take place in the morning, while the finals will take place at the end of the afternoon. According to the organizers, 89 judokas (60 men and 29 women) representing 20 countries from four continents will be entered in this competition. With the entry of the judokas involved, Côte d’Ivoire will be the best represented country, ahead of Niger (13), Algeria (9) and Cameroon (7).
The Algerian selection will participate with the objective of winning as many medals as possible, of different colors, as was the case at the African Open in Yaoundé (Cameroon), where it obtained a gold medal by Abdeslam Belbelhout (-73 kg) and another bronze by Othmane Arbaoui (-100 kg).
