Vuelta Protests & Israel Premier Tech Name Change

The Israel Premier Tech cycling team, more and more targeted by Propalestinian activists and certain leaders, announced on Monday in a statement that she was going to change her name, “deviating from her current Israeli identity”.

“With an unwavering commitment to our runners, our staff and our precious partners, the decision was made to rename the team, thus deviating from its current Israeli identity”, announces the training.

Its owner, the Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams, will also take a step back next season. “In view of the 2026 season, Sylvan Adams has chosen to withdraw from his daily involvement and will no longer speak in the name of the team, rather focusing on his role as president of the World Jewish Congress,” said the press release.

“Even if a new chapter awaits him, which will soon be revealed, the team will remain faithful to its founding promise: developing cycling talents from around the world,” promises training which should therefore reveal its new name soon.

After being the target of many demonstrations which disrupted the last edition of the Vuelta, Israel Premier Tech had been excluded, at the end of September, from the Tour of Émilie for “security reasons”,

A few days ago the Premier Tech group, the team’s cosponsor, and the equipment supplier who provides the runners with bikes, had asked that the training changes name and removes the term “Israel”. They were therefore heard.
