Unión Magdalena sentenced this Saturday a new relegation to the second division of Colombian football, losing 1-0 against Once Caldas in Manizales. Dayro Moreno’s goal, in the 43rd minute, sent those led by Carlos Silva to B again.
The Samario team needed a victory to stay alive for one more date, after the victory, earlier, of Boyacá Chicó as a visitor 0-2 against Envigado, at the Metropolitano de Itagüí stadium.

The defeat leaves Unión Magdalena with an average of 0.78 and, if it wins its three remaining games, the maximum it can reach is 0.95. If Boyacá Chicó loses everything, it will remain at 1.00.

Unión Magdalena’s anti-record: their fifth relegation on the field
What happened this Saturday also marks an anti-record for the Unión Magdalena, which becomes the team that has been relegated to the second division of Colombian soccer the most times on the field. It fell in 1999, 2005, 2019, 2023 and 2025.
Cúcuta Deportivo also has five relegations to B, but one of them was due to administrative issues. Athletically, he lost the category in 1995, 1996/97, 2013 and 2015. In November 2020 he was disaffiliated from the Dimayor and was readmitted in April 2022, although officially he only competed again in the second half of that year.
