Head to Martinique for the 72 boats departing from Le Havre this Sunday, October 26. The 17th edition of the Transat Café l’Or (formerly Transat Jacques Vabre) will start at 2 p.m. for the Ultim category.
This double-handed transatlantic race, won two years ago by Armel Le Cléac’h and Sébastien Josse on Banque Populaire XIwill start from Le Havre again this year but under a different name. It is in fact another brand of coffee that the race now carries.
Among the other names to follow will be Thomas Coville and Benjamin Schwartz in Ultim. The presence of Louis Burton (third in the 2020-2021 Vendée Globe) in a duo with Clément Commagnac on Bureau Vallée or those of Jérémie Beyou and Jordan Lagravière (Charal) should be noted.
Ultra-trailer Mathieu Blanchard will also form a team in the IMOCA category with New Zealander Conrad Coleman (MSIG Europe).
Note that initially planned for Sunday at midday, the departure from Le Havre of the dix Ocean Fifty will finally take place on Saturday, one day before that of all the other boats, due to difficult weather conditions.
Departures for the Transat Café l’Or will be at 2 p.m. for the Ultim, then every 15 minutes for the remaining categories this Sunday, October 26 from Le Havre. The event will be broadcast on France 3 from 1:35 p.m.
