Thibau Nys: Emotional Farewell & Cyclocross Future

Thibau Nys is preparing for the cyclo-cross season, his road season has been over for a while. At Lidl-Trek, Nys has to say goodbye to a Belgian teammate.

Lidl-Trek sees Jasper Stuyven (33) leaving after twelve years, he will ride for Soudal Quick-Step for the next three years. Stuyven was one of the pieces of furniture for the American team and also important for young riders.

This is also evident from the farewell message that Thibau Nys wrote on his social media. “Thank you, Jappe! We laughed a lot together, but you are also simply the best teacher in cycling.”

“I am very grateful for all the lessons you taught me and of course the best lead-out for my first professional victory ever.” Nys won the second stage of the Tour of Norway in 2023 thanks to Stuyven.

Stuyven says goodbye to Lidl-Trek

Stuyven also said goodbye to Lidl-Trek on his social media. “It’s hard to summarize what this team has meant to me – the people, the places, the moments that have shaped my career and who I am today. From my first race to my last in these colours, Trek has always felt like home.”

At Soudal Quick-Step, Stuyven wants to have his chance as leader in the classic spring. With a fifth place in the E3 Saxo Classic and the Tour of Flanders, Stuyven also proved that he can have those ambitions.
