South Tyrol Student Championships: 6 Medals Won

Excellent performance for South Tyrolean students at the national school championships. South Tyrol was represented by the winners of the provincial and regional championships and returned home with four Italian titles, a second place and a third place. Victories in orienteering, precision orienteering and badminton, placings in football and table tennis.

An initial highlight was the Italian orienteering and trail-o championship from 16 to 19 September in Varese. The women’s team from the Jakob Philipp Fallmerayer High School in Bressanone won the title in the orienteering race, while the Marie Curie Secondary Institute for Tourism and Biotechnology, with food specialization in Merano won in the trail-o (precision orienteering). The boys from the Brunico Technological High School won the title of Italian vice-champions. The football team of the Claudia von Medici school center in Malles, playing in Perugia from 23 to 27 September, has reached the quarter-finals. In Asti (from 7 to 10 October) the men’s team of the Heinrich Kunter technical and economic institute of Bolzano took third place in table tennis.

The grand finale was represented by the badminton competitions from 12 to 16 October in Pescara. Both teams from the Claudia von Medici high school center in Malles won the title of Italian champions, both in the female and male categories. A double joy, the result of great team spirit.
