Jannik Sinner is about to make history.
The Italian could be at a disadvantage in the fight for the ATP year-end number 1, an honor presented by PIF. But according to Infosys ATP analysis beyond the numbers, the world No. 2 has a chance to rewrite the record books in another way.
The 24-year-old currently leads the ATP Tour in both service games won and return games won. Since 1991, when the ATP began recording these statistics, no player has led both categories in the same season.
Serve games won (at the start of Paris)
Coming into the Rolex Paris Masters, Sinner has won 91.5% of his service games on the season. No other player has held more than 89.3% of his service games. In second place on the list is Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (89.3%), followed by Taylor Fritz (89.3%), Reilly Opelka (89%) and Novak Djokovic (88.5%).
No other player in the Top 5 in games won on serve is also in the Top 5 in games won on the rest. Sinner leads the ranking with 32.7% of his games to rest.
Games won against the rest (at the beginning of Paris)
Sinner’s great rival, world number 1 Carlos Alcaraz, is just two hundredths of a percentage in second place. Alex de Miñaur follows closely in third place (30.1%), followed by Sebastián Báez (28.7%) and Francisco Cerundolo (28.7%).
A year ago, Sinner became the first Italian to claim the ATP year-end No. 1, an honor presented by PIF. In 2025, he has won a higher rate of service games (91.5% vs. 91.4%) and return games (32.7% vs. 28.3%) compared to 2024.
Sinner has taken a big step forward in his return game. Before this season, he had never broken serve more than 29.2% of the time, something he achieved in 2023.
This performance has helped him stay in the fight for number one at the end of the year with less than a month to go before the end of the season. Sinner’s hopes have risen after Alcaraz’s second-round defeat in Paris.
Alcaraz arrived in Paris sixth in service games won (87.5%) and second in return games won (32.7%).
Sinner begins his Rolex Paris Masters on Wednesday against Zizou Bergs.
