Simeone on El Clásico Refs: A Sarcastic Take

Diego Simeone – Atletico Madrid – Spanish League

Sport 360 – Argentine coach Diego Simone commented Atletico MadridToday, Sunday, about the El Clásico match that will bring together Real Madrid and Barcelona, in the tenth round of the Spanish League championship.

Simone responds to Julian Alvarez’s contract situation

Simone said during the press conference, before the match with Real Betis: “El Clásico? The referees are the ones facing difficulty now. They are in trouble.”

He added: “Real Betis has a brave attack and great players, and it also defends well. Johnny Cardoso will travel with us and we will see after that. He will have to do his best.”

He continued: “We haven’t achieved any victory away from home yet? I’m optimistic. Things don’t last forever, and this motivates me and represents a challenge.”

He added: “When a team is unable to maintain its level of stability outside its home country, it has already gone through many matches, more than ten, in which it did not achieve success. There is a pattern that must be improved, because it depends on everything.”

He added: “There is an important factor that we have not implemented yet. We are not alone. Most teams lose points outside their homeland. To compete for the main positions, you must have this consistency outside of home, which is what we lack.”

When asked about the status of Julian Alvarez’s contract, he replied: “I do not interfere in contracts, but I see him happy to be here. The club knows what is best for him. I see Julian fully committed.”
