Laure Boulleau: “I imagine a sequence where Mbappé talks about a Les Bleues match…”

More trouble is brewing for the team that managed to give Stade Malherbe de Caen (N1) a tough challenge in the fifth round of the Coupe de France. According to reports from SportACaen.fr, the Caennaise Avant Garde fielded a suspended player in their initial championship matches. The club, recently relegated to Regional 1, played Medhi Taïleb, who was serving a one-game ban from the end of last season. This suspension stemmed from accumulating three yellow cards within a three-month period while playing for the ASPTT Caen reserve team in Regional 2.

A Technicality Ignored, a Major Penalty Looming?

Taïleb should have been sidelined for the match on Saturday, September 6, 2025, against Hérouville. However, he participated in what was a significant 7-1 defeat on the field. This result was later overturned to a victory on paper due to the ineligible player situation. Taïleb also featured in games against Maladrerie (a 1-1 draw) and Grand-Quevilly (a 4-0 win), meaning his suspension was not served. The same report indicates that both the Hérouville and Maladrerie clubs have formally requested that the Normandy Football League investigate the matter.

Upon learning of the complaints filed against them, AG Caen opted to exclude Taïleb from the squad for their most recent match, a 1-2 loss to league leaders Granville. If the League upholds the three matches played by the midfielder, the Normandy team could face a severe penalty, possibly losing the seven points they earned in those games, plus an additional one-point deduction for each match. This amounts to a potential loss of ten points. It’s certainly worth noting that the club already incurred an eight-point penalty last season due to a licensing issue with another player in National 3.
