Fuzhou, 18 October 2025 – An international recognition for Pescara, the only Italian city invited to the prestigious World Forum on the Blue Economy, maritime cooperation and quality economic development, held in Fuzhou, capital of the Chinese province of Fujian. Representing it is Mayor Carlo Masci, who enthusiastically participated in the event, the result of the “Friendship and Collaboration Pact” signed last September between the two municipalities.
“Being here, among ministers, ambassadors and CEOs of 56 countries, is a source of pride for our city,” declared Masci. “Pescara was placed in the front row, presented as a guest of honor in an audience that we would never have imagined reaching a few years ago. This is the result of a path that has led us to be recognized as a leading city of the Middle Adriatic.”
The mayor underlined how the Forum offered the opportunity to discuss with the leaders of global energy strategies, highlighting the central role of sustainability and cooperation. “These are the same words that Pescara already made its own last year, welcoming the G7 ministerial,” he added.
Masci also took the opportunity to reiterate his position on the “New Pescara”, criticizing the sterile controversies that slow down the merger process between the three municipalities. “From here, in an international scenario, those controversies appear like a light breeze, almost imperceptible. Our commitment is concrete and continuous, aimed at the good of the communities we represent.”
During the visit, the mayor promoted the excellence of the area: from the strategic airport two hours from Rome, to the “Gabriele d’Annunzio” University, from museums to parks, to the sea, a fundamental resource for tourist and cultural development. “The Chinese still see Italy as the cradle of beauty and culture, and last month’s visit to Pescara reinforced this perception.”
Accompanied by the Italian Consul General Valerio De Parolis, Masci concluded with a long-term vision: “We have sown a seed which, over time, will bear important fruits for our city and for the international relations we are building.”
