Okinawa Arena Cup: Adult Finals & Basketball Festival 2024

The 4th Okinawa Arena Cup was held at Okinawa Suntory Arena over two days, October 18th (Sat) and 19th (Sun).

This tournament is sponsored by the Okinawa Prefecture Basketball Association and co-hosted by Okinawa Arena Co., Ltd., and has become an annual event that attracts many teams and related parties from around the prefecture.

This time, for the first time in the tournament’s history, a men’s and women’s final competition will be held to send participants to the national competition in the adult category. In addition to the previous U12, U15, and U18 (elementary, junior high, and high school students) age groups, this was a meaningful tournament in which the university and adult categories were able to set a new goal of “aiming for Okinawa Suntory Arena.”

The number of visitors over the two days was

Day 1: 1,616 people

2nd day: 6,863 people

A total of over 8,000 spectators watched the heated battle.

Okinawa Arena Co., Ltd. has been working closely with the Prefectural Basketball Association on a daily basis to provide support for a wide range of players, from the younger generation to the top categories, through this tournament.

These efforts are a major step toward the goal of Okinawa City and Okinawa Suntory Arena to become a sacred place for basketball, and are helping to create an environment where all generations, from local children to top athletes, can make this arena their goal.

In the future, using this initiative as a model case, we will work to attract competitions other than basketball and develop local sports events, further promoting regional revitalization through sports and multipurpose use of arenas.
