Presentation of the U-15 and U-19 Badminton Tournament
The Councilor for Sports, Health and Consumer Affairs, Maria de la O Rubiohas presented one more year the long-awaited National Badminton Tournament for the under-15 and under-19 categories, which will take place on November 1 and 2 at the Diego Lobato Sports Center. This event will bring together more than 160 athletes of 51 teams from various Spanish locations, including 16 from Andalusia.
Rubio highlighted the importance of this championship, stating that it is an honor for the City Council to host a competition of such magnitude, which makes Huelva the capital of badminton on those dates. In addition, the event will be a key point for those interested in the sport, since it is a scoring event for the national ranking.
Juan Daniel RomeroSports Deputy, also joined the event to thank the organizers and invite citizens to attend and enjoy the sports atmosphere. “Badminton is a fascinating sport and we want young athletes to feel inspired during this tournament,” he said.
For its part, the delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Teresa Herrerahighlighted the opportunities that this event provides not only in the sporting field, but also in tourism, allowing visitors to discover Huelva while competing.
Esther Oliver, president of the Huelva Badminton Club, concluded by expressing her satisfaction at being part of this competition, which not only promotes badminton at a high level, but also promotes essential values such as respect, humility and camaraderie. The tournament has the support of various institutions, including the Higher Sports Council and the Junta de Andalucía. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
